Moving Image- Charity

This is advert is a narrative, it tells the audience a story of a person's downfall in life, then shows how the charity, Barnardo. At the start of the advert we have a close up of the girl's face, this close up shows the emotion in the girl's face. Later on there is another close up on the girl's face, we see the emotions coming out, the tears are shown the pain is shown, this makes the audience feel sad, and sympathises with her.This shows how sad she is. The images follows what the girl is saying, there is a voice over with the sad toned music in the background. There is a mid-shot of the girl sitting down on the floor, we see that she is isolated and is surrounded by a closed place. The lighting of this mid- shot is quite dull indicating the dull life that she is living and the fact that her life has gone downhill. As she gets into the car it is dark and most bad things happens in the dark at night. However, the change in tone when she is talking about how Barnardo helped her to get her life back on track, makes the audience think that Barnardo is actually good therefore making her life much better. This makes them think that they should trust them as they helped the girl that was in trouble. By showing what they have done to help somehow and by that person themselves telling the story adds in the emotions and makes the reader feel sorry for her, this then makes the audience help the charity Barnardo. And the fact that they have used a child in this makes parents think of what if that happened with their child. This advert is a hard sell due to the fact that it has tapped in the emotions of the audience the sad emotion not like soft sell which tapped in the use of the emotion of desire . They have used the same video but added a happier music in the background to show how they have helped this  girl, which makes us the audience think twice of what we are seeing.
