The poster is very dull, with low lighting but with the spot light on the main character. Indicating the genre of the poster which is action. This poster differs to other film posters as this doesn't have the directors name on it just the actor's name written at the top hence, making him the main focus of the poster. The colour theme to this poster is black and white, however the red "chapter 2" shows the importance towards this. The actor is placed in the middle of the poster and he is looking straight at the audience making the viewer feel more involved in this image. This furthermore indicates that he is the main focus. There are a lot of guns pointing at the main actor, this could give to the other audience who doesn't know of what this movie is about a gist of what the movie is about. And the fact that he is isolated and doesn't have anyone around him could connote that this movie is not the same as the others as there would always be a sidekick but he doesn't have one. The low lighting could moreover denote that this is a film noir, as John Wick is a very violent along with their action genre.
In comparison to the first poster this one has more information of the movie as this is the first poster for the first film. The line "don't set him off" could reflect something off the movie and the person holding the gun towards the viewer. This makes the audience feels intimidated by him as he has a straight face and serious and tense atmosphere, it also seems like he is holding the gun to the viewer. The shallow depth of field in this image makes the main focus of this image the gun whereas in the other poster there are no depth of field and there are other props to make the attention to go to the main actor. The gun is used as the 'o' for the title, making the image link with the poster showing the connection between the two subjects. Compared to the other poster John Wick is holding the gun in the poster for the first movie indicating that he has the power and control. However, in the other poster there he is not holding a gun, this could connote how he has maybe lost the control as all of the guns are now pointing at him instead of him pointing the gun at the viewer.
Analyse how the technical codes are used to persuade the specific audience at this specific time to buy the product.
This advertisement is aimed at woman in the 1950s, due to the fact that woman in the 1950s were stereotypically described to be housewives this could also be seen as domestic labour. Especially after in WWII the employability rate for women but they would still need to juggle the domestic labour which is not fair to them. However, there is a consumer boom which did lift up the spirt of the women because technology came into light and helped them for example the ESGE mixer and masher and the Miele 155/1 washing machine with mangle. This has aided them a lot as they do not have to spend 4 hours washing clothes by hand they could just put in washing machine making them save time. This is aimed at housewives in America this is demonstrated when they say "No wonder more Tide goes into American homes than any other washday product!" situated in the first bullet point. As America was the first country that was financially stable when the war ended which meant that they could spend a lot of money unlike England who was rationing food and supplies. This could refer back to the 'American dream' which is starting small and then getting big, this is setting the aspirational tone. Britain is in love with the American culture so this could be selling to woman in Britain as well. The layout of this advert is very bright and warm indicating that this is a very positive advertisement. This is also presented by the woman's facial expression which is connoting that she is very happy with the product. As the woman is looking up to the washing detergent this could be suggesting that this is an aspirational aspect that all woman should get this. This could refer back to Barthes for the gesture code, also the woman hugging the product could link back to Barthes theory. This woman could the representation of woman, she is a made up character this could be echoing Hollywood stars. The woman is wearing a headscarf symbol of housewives. This is a hard sell. There is direct address making the audience feel more involved in the advertisement, hence making more personal. There is a graphic at women at the bottom using tide and telling us what they think of this. And their response is good influencing woman to use this, as other people has used this and it was good. The line at the bottom "TIDE gets clothes cleaner than any other washday product you can buy" by comparing to other washing products this could indicate to the audience that it is much better and it is a revolution just like the technologies that has helped them. The red against the white background makes the writing stand out more making the advertisement more noticeable to the audience. In this advert poster there is not men present in this which furthermore connotes that the audience for this is women.
Bell Hooks- White women fit more into the western ideology. This advert backs this up due to the fact that it only shows white woman in this advert no other races, this furthermore connotes that there
Filming location- My filming location would be in the school theatre. I need to ask the person in charge if I could use it. I need to find a timing that everyone is free including the audience, I think I would either do this at after school or lunch time. As for my second location I would like to film the interviews outside or in home. I need make sure that the people who are volunteering to be in this media project are willing to do all of the things that are required to do as there is some things that may be embarrassing. Health and safety issues, will include the trophy that would be on something bright and gold to make it appealing.

Construction Of Narrative- The disruption the game show would be the each round each player gets eliminated. This would therefore makes conflict between each player as they are trying to win the £500. The resolution of this game is that someone will win at the end of the show. I have chosen to do this as there might not be anyone who would do something like this also it will be funny and fun to create.
Camera Shot List- Middle shot for the interviews. There would be a variety of shots when filming the game show. I would have long shot with as this is the optimum shot for having all of the players in there. However when the players are doing their rounds I would have middle shot as well as close up shot on the players to show their emotion/ determination to win the £500.
List Of Sounds- The diegetic sounds I would be using are when the audience would be clapping, shouting and oohing, and when the players are speaking. The non-diegetic sounds would be the theme tune which I would have to make to override some parts of the show, to make it more like a game show. I would also have sound effects to make it more of a game show.
Editing- I would have quick transitions between scenes to convey the comedy aspect of the show.
FOR MUSIC LOOK FOR CREATOR STUDIO ON YOUTUBE AUDIO LIBRARY
The first episode of 'Life on Mars', starts of with the mixture of the episode and the credit. Cutting off into the credits creates tension, as well as the fact that music builds up the tension, as it is fast paced. The low shot angle at the wheel, makes the audience understand the urgency of this, what seems to be a car chase. The camera looks like it is being hand held so this makes the audience feel like they are in the chase with the detective. Hence, setting the crime motif of the tv show. The enigmas of the tv show is how did he go back in time and will he come back to the present day. There is close up shot for the evidence. He is dressed in 70s clothings, old cars suggesting that he has gone back in the day. There was a scene where the camera is scanning across the office, giving the audience a sense of the setting of where the main character is. Showing the difference in the modern investigation and the olden day investigation, it is when there is no evidence bad and the policemen was smoking inside the building. However, through sound it shows that the present is still here as we still here the beep from the monitor in the hospital. Connoting that he is still alive but he is probably in a coma, making all of this unreal, dream. There was a scene showing the main character against the olden days people, this could be suggesting that the men is against the main character. There was some unrestricted things as there is not much things that the audience knows, for example will he solve the case? will he wake up from coma?
For
my media production, I have chosen to do Brief 1 which includes making a cross-
media production for a mainstream commercial broadcaster. Targeting an audience
of 18-35-year-old 'millennials'. I have decided to do a game show, which would
be the genre of comedy. This game is different to other game shows as they do
not relate to the audience of the ages 18- 35, this may also be a family
friendly show as well. The plot of this game show is completing social media
challenges under time limit. There will not be a judge, the audience is to determine
who the winner is. This would-be ITV commercial broadcaster, I have chosen ITV
due to the fact that they are mostly known for broadcasting game shows. The
location of the game show will be taking place in the college's performing arts
theatre. I would have an audience sitting in the seats. There would be four
contestants taking part of the game. With each challenge that the contestants
will go through, one contestant will be eliminated if they do not complete the
task in the time limit. The aim of the game is to win the £500 which will be
placed in a briefcase. The conflict will be amongst the contestants fighting to
win the £500. To include another filming location, I will be taking interviews
for each contestant introducing themselves to the audience and telling them why
they want to win the show. This location will either be home based or based
outside. The challenges will include the following: text fast, best impressions
of memes that are relevant to the age group, dance off (there will be a random
music and then they have to dance to it), as well as trying not to laugh
challenge. There might be more challenges. To determinate the winner of each
round we will have the audience to scream or clap, the contestant that receives
the most wins the round. The show will have a host that will direct everything.
The brief case will be on something that would make it sparkly and nice, as
there is something desirable in there. I will be using the projection board to
have the background of everything, however I will have to make some props for
the background decorations and for the contestants to use. For the magazine, I
will be making this very colourful and bright, as this is a comedy show. In the
magazine, I will include snapshots of the first episode, also include the day
and time that this will air on ITV. In the magazine, I will say the plot of the
game, and using some persuasive language to intrigue the viewer into watching
the show. The front cover of the magazine will have the poster of the show
there along with other aspects of the magazine, like price and page numbers, I will
also include a plug of a voucher to intrigue the viewer to look at the
magazine.
In 'Luther' the first episode starts off with going straight to the action whereas in 'The Fall' it starts off with a slow start, as the main character is packing her suitcase. The main characters in both 'Luther' and 'The Fall', don't have their faces shown till later in the show, the audience is firstly shown either the victim or the criminal. However, in 'Luther' the detective's face is shown much faster than 'The Fall' where the detective's face is shown halfway into the TV show. 'The Fall' is different compared to 'Luther' due to the fact that the audience is introduced to the victim first and then the criminal. The audience gets to know the story of the criminal and the victim before the viewer gets to know the investigator who is the main character in the TV show, all the audience knows is that she is packing. Unlike in 'The Fall' where the audience is introduced to the investigator later in the show, 'Luther' is introduced within 4 minutes of the show. 'Luther' starts off with a long shot of a dark mysterious building. With a dark noise in the background, giving off a suspenseful atmosphere as well as the theme thriller/ horror. The pair starts with a dark atmosphere, which is connoted by the dark lighting, that both TV shows portray. In 'Luther', there are quick transitions between each frames, this could be reflecting the action which is the investigator chasing the criminal. This could also be reflecting on the criminal, as he could be feeling under pressure as the investigator gets closer and closer. Whereas, in 'The Fall', it starts off very slowly reflecting how the criminal takes his time, stalking his prey. The investigator in 'Luther', breaks the stereotypical view of detectives in TV crime dramas. This is due to the fact that he is black male taking the main role as the detective. Similarly, to 'Luther', 'The Fall' breaks the stereotype due to the fact that the main character is a female women playing the dominant figure in the TV drama. In 'Luther' the episode starts off with getting the audience right in the middle of a chase and investigation. This shows the audience how good of an investigator he is, as he is chasing after the criminal with no back up, just him and the criminal. However, in 'The Fall' we don't really see the investigator that much in action apart from her taking notes. The investigator feels like an outsider due to the fact that she is from another country and that she doesn't live in a house, but in a hotel. Unlike, in 'Luther' he has a house, he has people that care about him. This is demonstrated when everyone in the office welcomes back Luther with a banner and a welcome back mug. In both TV show in the first episode, they don't do the 'whodunnit?' aspect. The audience knows who is the criminal is. Especially in 'The Fall', where we get to know who the criminal is. The shocking aspect of this is that the criminal has a family, and when the criminal is greeted by his son when he comes back from breaking into the house of the person who he wants to kill.
How does audience are positioned by the use of media language + The representations in Save The Children Advert + other charity AD?
Save The Children-
The narrative of this advert is that it is showing the audience a white child, which they could be connoting the fact that there are only white people in Britain as the charity wants to show how it is happening in Britain instead of Syria. Having this contrast is a good persuading tool, due to the fact the audience can see how it would be if it was in Britain. The little girl goes from having a very good life, but as it goes on it shows how the war makes it goes downhill. Throughout the advert there are constant close ups of the little girl. The audience will feel like they are going on the journey with the girl as there is direct contacts due to the close up. From the starting of the advert, there is warm lighting, which could connote the warmth of the love shown in the house. The facial expression evokes how she is feeling, she is feeling happy on her birthday. Then we are carried on to the next shots which are quick and snappy. Showing the stereotypical view of what all children do. The charity does include other ethnicities in this as the little girl has a close friend called Adam, who seems to be Asian. The audience get small hints on what is happening in the adults' world as opposing to the little girl's world, this is presented in the news on the TV that are in the background. The background music is proven to be a bit bothersome to the audience due to the fact that there is no music in the background as there are bombs soundtracks, as well as sirens, this could be a bit uncomfortable to the viewers, this could reflect how the little girl is feeling. As the trailer goes on, it goes to the warmth lighting to a washed out, grey lighting. She then moves from a nice living house, to a dark underground, this contrast is saddening persuading the audience that this is a problem that needs solving. By basing it in Britain makes it more convincing to the audience due to the fact that they wouldn't want that to happen to them. There are more contrast as to the first shots for example we first see her eat a good nice chocolate to a nasty looking bread, suggesting the changes of her life. At the end we see her get treated by who we think is the charity, selling the charity. This is a hard sell as 'Save The Children' is telling the audience what this is, and they are getting straight to the point.
The name of this trailer is called is 'It Shouldn't Happen Here'. It starts off with the camera flowing the little boy, this makes the viewer feel like they are following the boy, like going on a journey with him. At first glance at Alex we don't think that he is in poverty, the charity could be suggesting that you can't see poverty at first glance. When we are shown him playing by himself, this could connote how left out he is to the other children due to the fact that in the background there are children playing, but Alex is not with them which could hint to the fact that he maybe being bullied for not maybe having the same thing as the other children, as his parents does not have money for any of that. As we follow Alex, we learn how he lives. We are shown the door of their house, it looks all worn out, in my opinion this is the first sign to the poverty. When Alex says 'I have to be brave and strong.'
In my opinion I think that this music video has a combination of both, performance and narrative genre, due to the fact that there is dancing amongst the narrative video. The video firstly starts off with Beyonce standing on top of a drowning police car, in what seems to be a flood. On the police car it says "New Orleans Police", this could be connoting the flood that happened in New Orleans due to the Hurricane Katrina. From this, the audience can tell that this music video, will be mostly based on the Hurricane Katrina, as well as the flood that it has caused on August 20th 2005. The music video starts off with a very intimidating audio, this could be suggesting that Beyonce wants to come across as intimidating towards the Government due to the fact that they did not help with after effects on the Hurricane and the flood.
The producer first shows the scenes of where he wants the audiences to be, when showing the scenes it gives off the impression of the News. As Beyonce is sitting on the Police car it shows her being very relaxed, like she doesn't care about the fact that she is sitting on a drowning police car, as normally people would not do that as the police is presented as an intimidating group of people. This could be suggesting that Beyonce wants to be intimidating to the police as well as the government. The lighting at the start is very dark, this could be reflecting how dark she thinks the people in the higher ups were being not helping the people in need. Then it suddenly changes to an old 19th Century, Beyonce is presented a glamour girl, yet again there is more dark lighting than light, this could be connoting how there is more dark than light in the world linking back to the fact that America's history against the black race is not a healthy relationship. Beyonce is placed in the dark and the fact that she is alone could be connoting how she is in the dark along with the other people, this could furthermore be evoking the fact that Beyonce is representing the black people. When she is dancing in a Victorian looking hallway, she is wearing contemporary clothes along with vintage clothes, and the clothes that she is wearing revealing clothes hence linking back the representation of women. The next time the audience sees Beyonce on the police car, it has gone down more into the water, this could be the symbolism of her fighting again the police. The music video moves on from the old era, to a more contemporary scene, as she rides a vintage car linking back to the pop/ r&b genre she normally sings in. As she has her extensions as well as the big fluffy coat which is the trend now. There is a cool blue colour filter which add into the r&b genre. Furthermore, the audience goes on a car journey along a street, this is at first presented as a modern look, then later on its presented as a old vintage scene, as the colour looks very dried out, compared to the first car journey. There is then a scene where three black women are in a hair shop, this could reflect the fact that black women are stereotypically known to have wigs, weave etc...When performing, in what seems to be an empty indoor swimming pool, it is surrounded by darkness with only one light shining on the dancers.
Out of all of the scenes, this is only scene that links to the modern music videos, due to the fact that it's a performance and what they are wearing are modern, and still revealing linking back to the representation of women, that they reveal a lot of their skin. The lighting then gets more lighter as the other dancers join in, this could link to the fact that if they come together it will be more better, rather than staying in the dark. In other words, making others coming out of the dark, hence linking back to the fact that Beyonce is presented as the presenter of all the black people. Throughout the music video, Beyonce gives eye contact to the camera, however when she is the servants all dressed in black, we don't see her eyes at all. She could be highlighting this scene over all, due to the fact that slavery was a big change in America's history. Beyonce does the opposite of what all artist does, she doesn't put herself in the victims' place, she seems to be the one in control amongst the others, due to the fact that she is wearing jewellery that looks expensive, as well as the dressing and her composure. This is furthermore shown when she is sitting in a room with other women, dressed in the Victorian era what is to be expensive, she looks like the one in control not white people, she could be giving the audience an alternative history, like this is what it would look like if slavery did not happen. The producer then places, a child dressed up like a Native America. There's then a shot with Beyonce standing on top the police car, which could be the symbol of defeat, almost like she has defeated the issue/ the police.
Glory- Common and John Legend
This music video is based on the movie called Selma, as historical/ drama movie that came out in 2014. Throughout this movie, there are parts from the movie that are interoperated into the music video. Although this would be seen as narrative music video, there are the artists present in the video showing them singing and John Legend playing the piano. The music video starts off with John Legend playing the piano in a dark setting with rays of lights, this could be suggesting that the glory comes from the light and that light could be connoting the 'glory' they've gained among the darkness, which is the slavery era, and racism the harsh treatment towards the black community. And the glory they have gained is how they have fought back.

My favourite TV show genre would either be Mystery or Action. Due to the fact that I like that there is tension, in the mystery genre. It engages the viewer to think on who is the killer or murder etc... For example in Riverdale, they would make the audience think that one thing but then reveal that it is another person, the surprise is entertaining and intrigues the viewer. Moreover, action genres will always in my opinion keep my attention on it, as it doesn't let you get off hook. This is demonstrated in The Flash, there will always be new things that the superhero needs to do, to save the world. And as this goes on, the viewer would like to know if he does save the world. My least favourite TV show genre would be reality TV show. Because I don't really think it is interesting, as much as action and mystery is. This is may be the cause of that, reality tv shows is just like a documentary of people, that doesn't really interest me.

The trailer starts off with the scenery, it shows where the place is set, this then gives the audience a sense of feeling of where they are. The first frame shows beautiful palm trees with the good weather, this then contrasts with the next frame which shows crows on pylons, this could foreshadow the bad things that happen in the movie as crows are symbolic for bad things due to happen. From then on there is dark lighting connoting the bad things the will come later on in the play. In the trailer you can see that they sometimes use a narrative to match what is showing on the screen, for example there is shown "got my women and baby living there" by using this gives the audience sympathy since they think that they think that there might be something wrong, and "women and baby" are symbolic to give sympathy and the other one is "staring" this technique further more gives out emphasises on the information that is important to the audience.
Later on in the movie you see the struggles of the main characters in the movie, this may also show the struggles of how black youth is seen as to be and been treated. They show the stereotypical view of young black people, due to the fact that they use real life things that we all know that young people from the new and social media. This therefore makes this more real life. The trailer then shows a women getting a gun ready, this may go against the stereotypical view of how women is shown, as they show her to be strong willed not weak. They then show an incident of one of the main character with the police, saying that "just trying to get home" from this we can see that he is innocent and hasn't done anything. But due the stereotypical view of young black people the police thinks that he has done something, which makes the audience feel sorry for him. Also the fact that it only shows white cops, furthermore pushes the the stereotype. The policeman says to the mother "i will ruin your life" this sounds like a threat which makes the audience feel like the police is the villain in this movie, the audience automatically despises the polices due to the fact that they go again the main characters here, and later on in the movie. There is then a close up of the main character's face when the cop slams his face to the car, this close up highlights the pain and emotion in his face. In the background there is sirens which connotes the police, as they have that in the background this connotes the fact that young people are associated with the police in a bad way. Until the studio scene, everything was so serious. The studio scene shows how their happiness, their sudden realisation of the talent, shows how this will benefit them later on in the movie. After the studio scene the music changes from a sorrowful music to an upbeat music, which then brings up the atmosphere in the trailer.
When they have a press conference about the team, the person ask them about the "glamourised gangs and drugs" the fact that they ask about this could connote the fact that thats what they think that young black people are all about. And the fact that a middle aged white man asked this question could connote how people of their age think of the youth. And the person responses with the "our art is the reflection of our reality", he could be saying that on the behalf of all of the people. In my opinion I think that there is a message behind this movie showing what it really is as a young black person. The target audience is people that is around 40 years old. And for people who are into hip hop and rap, and there is mostly aimed at black young people. Around the teenage. Straight after the conference, the music goes back to its sorrowful music, it goes back down to the low beat. This is as soon as the police comes in, this then foreshadows the fact that there will be something bad going on. The producer in the movie claims that the police was "harassing" the main characters, this will deem to be believable due to the fact that people were harassed by police before. And the reason why the police is doing this is "because of what they look like", this furthermore shows how the stereotypical view of young black people are in the eyes of polices. There is then a long shot showing how all of the people are lied down on their bellies in a straight line, this shows that they are treated as a criminal for something they haven't done. After saying something about their "reality", police show up, this could be showing us how the police could be ruining the young lives of black people.
What seem to be a street boy rap group, turned out to be something bigger. They show retaliation against the police, this could be link to the riots. The trailer then ends with them singing, with their logo coming up at the end. In my opinion I think they spent a lot money on this movie, due to the fact that there is loads of cars used and there is the studio where they might have to rent the studio which might have cost a lot. Another reason why I think they spent a lot of money on this is that they had a lot of people in the concert so that would mean they would have paid a lot of money for the people to be there, as well as the lighting in there. The movie is produced my F. Gray Gray, who also produced the 'The Fate of The Furious' in 2017.
Analysing the viral
Here are the ways that 'Straight Outta Compton' went viral:
Home pride- Since it has the city of 'Compton' written down in the title. This gave the people who like the movie, a chance to put each of their hometown in this. As shown at the bottom.
Humour- In this generations, memes are very popular. Fans has made memes of this which furthermore send a viral view of this, which furthers their marketing and fans.
There is also celebrity endorsement, this would moreover makes the fans follow 'Straight Outta Compton'.
This is the original of the Texas Chainsaw, the director of this is Tobe Hooper, he was born in Austin, Texas. In this film there is a very obvious villain and there were possible, and in this movie there are only white people connoting the fact that they were still not in terms with the coloured people. The narrative of this movie is action based, due to the fact that there is a man with a chainsaw attacking people. The production value is low as their budget is seen to be low too.It is set in the countryside where is kind of local this shows that they did not spend a lot of money on the setting, this furthermore makes it realistic making it creepier, and the costumes are all normal clothes yet again they did not spend money on costume. Especially the villain who is wearing a mask that doesn't seem to have much scary effect on it. The cast in this movie are all unknown actors and actress, this furthermore makes it an independent movie. Texas Chainsaw is known to be a classic movie due to the fact that it doesn't follow up with the genres of other horror movie, such as , one of the characters called Sally gives the creepy person a ride and automatically regrets it. Unlike this other horror movies would have them pick up a cursed object etc...Tobe was aiming to have a PG rating as he didn't show the horrifying parts but the aftermath of it, however he got an R rating due to how horrifying it was without showing the gory parts. The trailer starts with saying that "What happened is true" they purposely say this due to the fact that this scares people, this is a typical thing to do in horror movies as they will say that this is a ' true story' which terrifies the audience since they think this may happen and this is not fictional and made up. It starts with a dark tune furthermore connoting the horror in this movie. The first thing we see is action where there is a person running away but has run into the villain. In the background there is a creepy laugh with the image of a skeleton's hand, this slow moving camera moreover adds in the dramatic theme into this. The music in the background sound very mechanic which adds in with the chainsaw concept. As the trailer goes on we see the women getting taken away, by the villain she is consistently screaming which adds in the horror in this, as when she is screaming it makes it scary for them. And then there is a the hanger scene, the audience knows what is going to happen this then horrifies them. The trailer is very fast paced which connotes the pace at which the action is. It then at the end comes up the "how can you stop screaming?" this rhetorical question makes the audience think that they will scream throughout the movie.
The Poltergeist- Comparison
This is written by the same person as 'Texas Chainsaw Massacare', Tobe Hooper. Unlike the Texas Chainsaw there are more effects shown in this trailer this is could connote the how this is now not an independent movie. They have used a lot of money a lot money due to the fact there is more effects on it then Texas Chainsaw. However, it was said that Tobe Hooper did not really direct the movie as shown is this source http://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3447116/tobe-hooper-pretended-direct-poltergeist-steven-spielberg/. In this trailer there is no sign of the actual thing that is haunting them this adds in the mystery of the haunting.
